New competition to get schools buzzing with booktalk
The National Literacy Trust and Oxford University Press have launched a primary reading initiative that is urging youngsters to make reading a social activity in the classroom.
Your Monster Read is a competition that challenges primary pupils to upload and share creative book reviews to the safe social learning platform, Makewaves.
Entries can take any form, and could be a video, blog, audio recording or picture, and the winners stand to get the chance to meet top children’s author Ali Sparkes and receive a set of her books, as well as an e-reader and £60 of book vouchers, and further prizes from Oxford University Press.
Teachers can sign up for the competition at www.makewav.es/monsterread
