Follow the yellow brick road to the Wicked Young Writers’ Award and let your imagination fly (my pretties)
Wicked, the stage musical based on The Wizard of Oz, is proud to announce that entry is now open to the fifth year of the Wicked Young Writers’ Award. It was established in 2010, spearheaded by Michael Morpurgo, to recognise excellence in writing, encourage creativity and develop writing talent in young people between 5 and 25 years of age from all backgrounds and areas of the UK & Ireland.
This year author of the hugely popular How to Train Your Dragon series, Cressida Cowell, joins the panel of judges alongside Michael McCabe, UK Executive Producer of Wicked, and National Literacy Trust director Jonathan Douglas.
Another new addition in 2015 is the Sugarscape Fan Fiction Award, created by teen entertainment site sugarscape.com, so kids can submit their own tales of Hulk Hogan, Josie & The Pussycats and Huckleberry Hound teaming up to defeat Skeletor. Or you could write something more sensible, I guess.
Pieces of writing can be submitted individually or as part of a school group, until Friday 18 April 2015. For more information and to see the great prizes on offer head to wickedyoungwriters.com.
