National teacher recruitment drive gets underway

A major new TV advert launches today calling for more people to consider a career in teaching

A new television advert was launched today as part of the government’s teacher recruitment campaign, Your Future: Their Future, and features inspiring and talented classroom teachers from around the country.

With teacher recruitment (and retainment) a big concern, the campaign is aiming to help towards recruiting the 35,000 trainee teachers needed every year, and in attracting more high-quality teachers into classrooms.

As part of the incentives to available to would-be teachers, the government is offering a new range of bursaries and scholarships for the academic year 2016/17 – worth up to £30,000 tax-free – in key academic subjects to top graduates who train to teach.

The new ad premieres on national TV from today and is scheduled to appear in a range of popular slots, but it is also available to watch online at getintoteaching.education.gov.uk.
