Helping the Street Children of Africa

The plight of street children in Africa has been given a boost by Steljes, the technology innovative distributor, through its ‘Breath of Fresh Air’ campaign.

Everyone deserves the right to an education but for some it’s not as easy as it should be. Steljes has announced a partnership with the charity Street Child Africa - a charity which works with local partner organisations in sub-Saharan Africa to support children in street situations. The “Breath of fresh air” campaign will support the charity’s education programme.  For every SMART Board ® 600i or 800i interactive whiteboard system sold from 1st July to 30th September * to an educational establishment, Steljes will donate the cost of a pair of shoes to the Street Child Africa charity.  As an additional incentive, Steljes is offering up to £250 off a SMART Board 600i or 800i interactive whiteboard system when it is swapped out for an old SMART Board in UK Schools (for terms and conditions please visit  www.steljes.com/refresh for full terms and conditions).

Although basic education in Africa is normally provided for free, there are often costly, hidden fees - such as compulsory uniforms and exam fees - without which children can be excluded from entering the classroom. Sadly this is frequently the case for street children who simply do not have the means to afford to buy the necessary uniform or pay the exam fees that would allow them to have an education.
